In La Jolla, California is one of the most esteemed municipal golf courses in the world. Torrey Pines is a 36-hole facility, owned and operated by the city of San Diego. The facility was opened in 1957 and was built on the site of Camp Callan, an Army installation during World War II. The course was named for a rare tree that only grows along the stretch of cast in San Diego and Santa Rosa.
